Paris Fashion Week kicks off, and fashion enthusiasts eagerly anticipate these shows

Today marks the beginning of Paris Fashion Week for the Fall/Winter 2024-2025 season, featuring four shows by new designers and talents seeking to establish themselves in the fashion capital, Paris. The city hosts major global fashion houses, including French brands like Dior, Hermès, and Chanel, along with international ones. Notably, the week includes presentations by Arab designers and young designers, especially from Ukraine.

The French Fashion Institute (IMF) took the lead by showcasing the work of its students ahead of the major shows starting tomorrow. Additionally, designer Mary Adam Leenaerdt presented her debut collection in Paris. Having previously worked with Balenciaga and Givenchy, she incorporated the Deconstructed technique she acquired at Maison Margiela, dismantling and reassembling garments.

A total of 71 fashion shows and 38 collection launches are scheduled over the course of nine consecutive days in the French capital, according to the official website of the Federation of Haute Couture and Fashion. Dior is set to kick off the shows tomorrow, followed by Saint Laurent. Fashion enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the ready-to-wear collection by creative director Daniel Roseberry for Schiaparelli on the following Wednesday. The location of the Schiaparelli show remains undisclosed, with the fashion house stating that it will feature a select group of celebrities this season.

Mugler is making a strong comeback to the fashion stage on the third of March, launching a collection inspired by the actress Zendaya. The collection is a tribute to the founder of the house, Thierry Mugler, who passed away two years ago.

On the fourth of March, Pierre Cardin is set to present a show inspired by the Copernicus space and environmental project, as announced by the house’s director, Rodrigo Basilicati-Cardin, to the French Press Agency (AFP).

While the iconic Chanel show is highly anticipated, all eyes are also on Louis Vuitton, which will celebrate the tenth anniversary of Nicolas Ghesquière’s leadership of the women’s lines for the house.

The new creative director, Sean McVeigh, succeeding Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen, will unveil his debut collection, making it one of the highly anticipated shows at the conclusion of the event.

Paris Fashion Week will continue to showcase new names and young talents that have gained prominence recently, including Charles De Villemorin, Weinsanto, and others.

What is the fate of Balmain designs?

Coincidentally, Balmain presents its women’s fashion collection concurrently with the commencement of the trial of thieves who stole 50 pieces from the previous collection of designer Olivier Rousteing, showcased last September.

Additionally, the Olsen twins chose Paris instead of New York to launch their collection for The Row, along with the Australian brand Zimmermann. Paris Fashion Week for the Fall/Winter 2024-2025 season also provides a platform for showcasing the talents of Ukrainian designers and features a joint presentation for emerging fashion designers in a showroom in Paris at the end of the events.
